Changes to the 2019 G-Class
What’s New in the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?
You may have heard by now that the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class received a long-overdue redesign. While drivers have come to love the rugged nature of this off-roading machine, the automaker felt changes were necessary to keep it at the front of its class. We’ve been impressed with what we’ve seen so far, so now it’s your turn to check out what’s new in the 2019 G-Class!
Exterior Changes to the 2019 G-Class
If you were worried about the G0Class losing its rugged shape, no worries. It still has the same gruff appearance, but with some awesome alterations. While the 2019 model is bigger than previous years, it will be 375 lbs lighter. There are two new wheel options for either 19-inch or 20-inch wheels as well as a whopping 24 exterior color options. Lighting will be provided by an LED Intelligent Light System with integrated Daytime Running Lights.
Interior Changes to the 2019 G-Class
It’s what’s on the inside that counts, right? Mercedes-Benz seems to think so, which is why they’ve added more legroom for everyone. Comfort and convenience can be had with new features like 3-zone automatic climate control, 64-color ambient lighting, a Burmester® Surround Sound System, and a power tilt/sliding sunroof. COMAND® Navigation, once an optional feature, is now standard. You’ll be able to access your favorite destinations or preferred infotainment features with the large 12.3-inch Central Display. Smartphone integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is now standard as well.
Performance Changes to the 2019 G-Class
Here’s where the off-roading gurus are sure to be pleased. The G-Class, already a performance machine, was heavily upgraded under the hood and around the frame to make your SUV almost like a tank. While the horsepower and torque remain largely unchanged, on-road performance has been improved with a new independent front suspension and electromechanical power steer. KEYLESS-Start® and DYNAMIC SELECT®, once nonexistent in the G-Class, is now standard equipment. And upgrade to the steering wheel makes it more contemporary with the added Touch Control Buttons.
While we won’t say anything to downplay what the 2018 G-Class had to offer, we’re excited with everything we’ve seen so far in the 2019 model (stay tuned for changes to the AMG® G-Class updates!).
